Sylvesterloppet Göteborg

The Sylvester Race in Gothenburg is a popular 10 km race held on New Year’s Eve, starting and finishing at Heden. The course is flat and spectator-friendly, and runs for two laps through central Gothenburg, including Avenyn, Ullevi, Gårda and around Svenska Mässan. The race is a perfect way for both elite runners and recreational runners to end the year. Everyone who finishes receives a medal and has a chance to win prizes in a prize draw. All classes start together at 12:00, with a warm-up 15 minutes beforehand. Registration is via MittLopp, with designated start groups based on expected finish time.

Start groups are divided according to expected finish time, with intervals of a few minutes between them. Race numbers can be collected at Nordstan and Heden in the days before the race. Electronic chip timing using the chip on the race number is used, and net times are reported. Registration is available until one hour before the start if the race is not full. Company and group registrations are handled by email at kansli@solvikingarna.se. The race takes place in Gothenburg on New Year’s Eve, with registration via MittLopp and different classes for different ages and categories. There is also a fancy-dress class with prizes, and changing facilities and showers are unavailable due to the redevelopment of Heden.
