Race description

People, running & community on the wonderful Flatön. On August 23, 2025, we will hold the Taube Race for the fifth year in a row, and it will be the best year yet! This year, in addition to music, food, and folk festival: 21 km, 10 km, 5 km, children's race of about 400 meters, and, new this year, a combo race of 36 km! That is, all races, excluding the children's race, in combination. We have had runners who have completed the distance in previous years, but now we formalize the distance. Regardless of your choice of distance, you are welcome to the most beautiful race in Bohuslän on Flatön! The races run in beautiful Bohuslän archipelago environment in the spirit of Evert Taube. On beautiful Flatön at Malö, just north of Orust in Bohuslän, and through the singing of Evert Taube's Handelsman Flink, these races are held, along with food and entertainment at Flatö School. There is a ferry to the island from both north and south. The race crosses the islands with beaches, forests, and fields along the route. This year, there are only 150 exclusive spots for each race (half-marathon and 10 km) and 100 spots for the small Taube race and 25 spots for the combo race. First come, first served. Registration for the children's race will open later, via www.taubeloppet.se. For more information, see the event's website www.taubeloppet.se/ Start and finish at Flatö School. The race is organized by Flatö Association. Timing is provided by ArenaTime.

FERRY TO THE ISLAND You reach Flatön by ferry from Orust (Fröjdendal) or from Skaftölandet (Dragsmark). The ferry takes only a few minutes and runs twice per hour during the day. Current timetable can be found here: Link

START Outside Flatö School. The race will be conducted in start groups. Final start times will be announced a few weeks before the start to registered participants. It is important to be in the starting pen when your group's start goes, as timing cannot be guaranteed otherwise.

FINISH At Flatö Church, located 100 meters from Flatö School.

RACE OFFICE Here you will pick up your bib and ask questions. The race office is at the Local History Museum at Flatö School. Opening hours: Friday 16:00–20:00 Saturday 10:00–19:00

BIB The bib must be worn visibly on the chest. We provide safety pins, but you are welcome to bring your own – reusing is good! If you register by July 31, we will print your name on the bib, making it a personal memento and allowing the audience to call your name when they see you!

TOILETS Available at Flatö School and Flatö Church, and after about 6 km at the Square.

BAG DROP At the race office, you can leave your bag. Valuables are not the responsibility of the organizers. Labels are available in the bag you receive at the race office to attach to your bag.

OVERSHIRT With your bib, you will receive a bag for your possible overclothes. Mark it with one of the labels you get when you pick up your bib, and leave it before the start at the race office.

BANANA The route is marked with ribbons (orange for 21 km, blue for 10 km, and green for 5 km), arrows, and kilometer signs in the terrain. Some parts are rocky and possibly slippery (depending on high water levels, for example), so take care! There are easier sections later where you can stretch out and run.

TIMING Electronic timing from ArenaTime, with a chip per runner, presented immediately after the race (and on taubeloppet.se after a day).

ENERGY STATIONS It is important to hydrate and refuel early in the race! At our energy stations, you can recharge with energy drinks and water. Bananas, buns, and pickled cucumbers are other good options. After the race, food is available for purchase at Flatö School.

MAX TIME/REPEATS At the energy stations, a rope is drawn at a specific time, indicating that you cannot continue the race after that. This is for your safety. If you pass the last rope in time, you can continue to the finish – it does not close until everyone is back! We use the following times at energy stations: Energy Station 1 (Björnsund) Energy Station 2 (Kila) Energy Station 3 (Lökebacken) Energy Station 4 (Ängön)

DISQUALIFICATION ...littering along the route is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification. Trash bags are available at energy stations. Please sort your waste.

IF YOU HAVE HAD ENOUGH If you need to withdraw from the race for any reason, go to the race office and inform the officials. This is important so that no search and rescue operation is initiated when you are actually relaxing in a jacuzzi.

FIRST AID/HEALTHCARE First aid equipment and a nurse are available at the energy stations. Medical care is also available near Flatö School, along with a doctor. In case of serious accidents or illness, always call 112!

INSURANCE For those who wish, the Startklar insurance can be purchased at this link. You can also read what coverage it includes.

PRIZE GIVING Everyone who completes their race receives the Taube Race medal and diploma (the latter emailed in PDF format if desired). Prizes will also be awarded to the top three in each class in the form of a trophy made of Swedish crystal glass from our local sponsor LifeStone (women's and men's classes in all three distances, and children's classes in 10 km and 5 km races). We also give out nice raffle prizes from our other sponsors, and the award ceremony takes place on the stage at Flatö School after the race (see the final time for the award ceremony in the schedule).
